How To Make Sure Your Cake Gets Eaten

One of the questions we often get asked is “how do we make sure that our cake gets eaten”? Understandably, you want to make sure that your guests have the opportunity to try the amazing cake flavours that you have chosen as well as ensure that there is no wastage so here are our top tips to help your ensure your cake gets eaten.

Choose a different or unique flavour

Give your guests a unique option and they are more likely to try a slice (or two!). For example, if you are choosing a chocolate dessert for your main meal, perhaps choose some fruity options for your cake so that your guests get to enjoy a variety of flavours.

Don’t cut your cake too late!

Think carefully about when you will cut the cake and, consequently, when the cake will actually get served. Couples often choose to cut their cake at the start of the evening reception so that their evening guests can bear witness but by the time the cake has been taken away and portioned, your guests are likely to be pre-occupied with dancing and chatting by the time the cake is actually served. Instead, why not cut the cake after the ceremony and let your guests enjoy the cake instead of canapes during the drinks reception. Alternatively, you could cut the cake at the start of the meal and then enjoy it as your dessert.

Use name cards to let guests know the flavours on offer

If you are intending to serve your cake in the evening then information cards are always a good idea so that your guests know what flavours are on offer. Guests are more likely to indulge in a slice if they know what they are eating. We always provide name cards to go out with your cake when it is served but you could always think about creating your own to match your wedding theme.

Freeze it!

Finally, there really is no need to cut the entire cake. Ask the venue to save a portion (or perhaps an entire tier) so that you can take it home, freeze it and enjoy it at a later date.
